According to Greater Fort Wayne Inc. (GFW), the county saw more than $2.6 billion in new private investment and just over 1,000 new job commitments.
Additionally, the county added more than $74.7 million in new annual payroll with average wages exceeding the current annual average by more than $13,000, said GFW, the economic development agency and chamber of commerce for Fort Wayne and Allen County.
“These milestones reflect the hard work of our local partners, the dedication of our community leaders, and the vibrant ecosystem we’ve built together,” CEO John Urbahns said in a news release. “As we celebrate this unprecedented success, we remain focused on continuing this momentum.”
The organization said the county saw 21 business expansions and relocation commitments last year. Among them is Google, which is currently building a $2 billion data center that is expected to bring 200 jobs to Fort Wayne and could involve additional phases in the future.
Greater Fort Wayne also cited preliminary data from the U.S. Census Bureau that shows the county’s population again surpassed state and national averages in 2023—the latest year for which data is available—with 103 residents being added over the previous year.
