Forest River to lay off 160 in northern Indiana

In a notice to the state, the recreational vehicle manufacturer said the affected employees work at three plants in Elkhart and one in Bristol.
Forest River did not provide a reason for the layoffs. The company did not respond to multiple requests for more information from Inside INdiana Business.
The company said the layoffs at Plants 16, 46, and 96 in Elkhart, as well as Plant 24 in Bristol will occur on Dec. 31, and are expected to be permanent in nature.
The affected workers are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights. Additionally, Forest River is not providing any separation benefits, according to the WARN Notice filed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
The move is in addition to the layoffs of 83 workers in April of this year.
Forest River is the parent company for multiple brands of RVs, cargo trailers, pontoon boats, buses, vans, and commercial vehicles. The company employs more than 14,000 people in over 100 facilities in the U.S., according to the company’s LinkedIn page.
