Purdue recently announced Bret Marsh will begin his role as dean and hospital CEO with the school on Nov. 4.
Marsh has been Indiana’s state veterinarian for three decades and led the effort to establish the Indiana Center for Animal Policy.
Per a release from the university, Marsh received both his bachelor’s and doctorate degrees from Purdue. His professional career has included stints serving on the U.S. Animal Health Association and as presidents of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association.
“My career in veterinary medicine has been built on safeguarding animal health through innovation and partnerships, with a passion for public service to the people of Indiana. I look forward to continuing those efforts as dean,” Marsh said in the release. “As Indiana state veterinarian, I saw how animal health is inextricably linked to environmental and human health — from food safety to farms to pets in our homes. I want to ensure Purdue is leading the way in One Health through research and preparing the next generation of veterinarians.”
As dean of the veterinarian school, Marsh will focus on Purdue’s One Health initiative, which is a partnership with Elanco Animal Health to research human, plant, animal and environmental health in a life sciences research building.
Marsh takes over as leader of the veterinarian school for veterinary pathologist Willie Reed.
