That’s thanks to $280,000 from the Community Development Block Grant Program, which is being distributed by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
OCRA says the planning grants this cycle were given to towns focusing on revitalizing their downtown areas and improving their water utility systems.
The towns getting funding are:
- Middletown $40,000 for downtown revitalization
- Winamac $90,000 for water infrastructure
- Napoleon $60,000 for water infrastructure
- Wingate $90,000 for water infrastructure
Duke Bennett, executive director of OCRA, said in a statement that planning is a key step in bringing economic progress.
“The Planning Grant program is a great opportunity for communities to get ahead,” Bennett said. “By creating strong plans for development now, these four towns will be best prepared to carry out successful projects down the road, and as a result, increase the quality of life in their communities.”
The funding for OCRA’s planning programs comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
