Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed.
Hunsche said the firm will take over the Carnes Company office in downtown Huntington. Carnes Company owner Tom Carnes and his team will be retained to continue serving their clients and help with the transition to the Hunsche CPA Group brand.
“It has always been my aim to broaden access to our services for small businesses around the region. Tom has built a remarkable business and we look forward to working with him and his clients,” Hunsche CPA Group Managing Director Michael Hunsche said in a news release. “As we have done throughout our business journey, we will continue to provide small-town common-sense services with big city resources.”
Carnes Company CPA also has offices in Fort Wayne and Warsaw. The combined firm will have nearly 20 employees, and Hunsche said they plan to hire at least two more by the end of the year.
This is the fifth acquisition for Hunsche CPA Group in as many years. Among the most recent was the January 2023 acquisition of Premier Payroll in Fort Wayne.
