Time magazine has released its inaugural list of “America’s Best Midsize Companies,” and nine Indiana-based companies are included. The list spotlights U.S.-headquartered companies that made between $100 million and $10 billion in revenue over the last year.

The publication partnered with market research firm Statista to conduct a study based on three primary factors: employee satisfaction, revenue growth, and sustainability transparency.

The employee satisfaction category was determined using survey data of 170,000 employees of U.S. companies over the last three years that encompassed direct and indirect recommendations of companies, as well as evaluations of employers by verified employees on criteria such as image, atmosphere, working conditions, salary, and equality.

The other two categories were assessed using data from Statista databases on company revenue and environmental, social and governance efforts.

The Indiana companies on the list are:

  • 86. Zimmer Biomet Holdings – Warsaw
  • 133. Simon Property Group – Indianapolis
  • 143. Kimball Electronics – Jasper
  • 286. NiSource – Merrillville
  • 331. Old National Bank – Evansville
  • 342. Shoe Carnival – Evansville
  • 405. Vera Bradley – Fort Wayne
  • 418. First Merchants Corp. – Muncie
  • 459. OneMain Financial – Evansville

“This recognition from Time fills us with immense pride,” First Merchants President Mike Stewart said in a news release. “Our team is passionate about providing exceptional financial services, innovative solutions, and personalized attention to empower our clients to reach their financial goals.”

The inaugural list was topped by California-based software firms Workday and ServiceNow, followed by Michigan-based Ally Financial, Ralph Lauren in New York, and Airbnb in California.
