Greg Lee began his new role earlier this month after serving as the director of Western Indiana Region 7 WorkOne services since 2021. The board oversees the regional workforce training provider.
“As a native of Western Indiana, I am honored to lead an organization that contributes so much to the economic well-being of individuals and businesses,” Lee said in a news release. “By listening closely to the needs of our business community and then partnering with educators, labor, economic development professionals, community-based organizations, and state and local officials to craft strategies, we are able to effectively prepare our local workforce for the jobs of both today, and tomorrow.”
Lee, 38, replaces Lisa Lee, who is retiring.
Prior to his job as the Region 7 WorkOne services director, Lee served as an assistant director and as a Jobs for America’s Graduates coordinator for the organization, which works through Vincennes University.
During his tenure as director, Region 7 met or exceeded federal performance goals, the news release said. As the Region 7 JAG coordinator, Lee was awarded the JAG National Outstanding Specialist Award, the JAG National High Performer Award, the JAG Indiana Award for Positive Social Media Promotion, and the JAG Indiana Manager of the Year.
“The board looks forward to having Greg Lee in this leadership role,” board President Laurence Cross said. “He brings just the right combination of experience and insight needed to address the workforce needs of our growing regional economy. We are optimistic about all of the opportunities before us, and Greg is the right person to leverage these advantages.”
Lee is a graduate of the Scott College of Business at Indiana State University and serves on a number of organizations in the Terre Haute area, including the United Way Job Skills Council, the Community Resource Alliance and the Vigo County College Success Coalition.
