Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the La Porte Redevelopment Commission has approved an agreement for the $10 million facility that will be located at NewPorte Landing.
Plans for the 33,000-square-foot family fun center were submitted by Ben Konowitz and Ryan Hart. The facility would include space for arcade games, pinball machines, bowling lanes, outdoor and indoor miniature golf, a laser tag course and virtual darts.
The venue could also have a restaurant and bar, according to the publication.
The agreement approved by the RDC gives the developers the 6.6-acre site at no cost, provided they meet certain criteria related to building appearance, construction quality and activity offerings. The venue must also remain in operation for at least four years.
“If they do everything they said they are going to do, then ultimately they wouldn’t pay anything for the land,” LaPorte Economic Advancement Partnership Executive Director Bert Cook told The Times.
Cook estimated the value of the property at $1 million. If the developers do not meet the terms of the agreement, they will be required to pay for the land.
Construction on the family fun center is expected to begin sometime in 2025 pending a review of the property by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
