The list, which is not a ranking, gives companies scores on the Disability Equality Index based on five categories: culture and leadership, enterprise-wide access, employment practices, community engagement, and supplier diversity.
The index was developed by Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities. Participating companies receive a score between zero and 100, with those scoring above 80 making the Best Places to Work list.
Four of the five Indiana companies received a score of 100: Corteva Agriscience, Elevance Health and Eli Lilly and Co. in Indianapolis, as well as Evansville-based Old National Bank.
“We are proud to again be top-rated on the Disability Equality Index, which underscores Old National’s commitment to providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities at all levels of our organization,” Old National CEO Jim Ryan said in a news release. “We have seen the evidence that championing inclusion–in all its many forms–makes Old National even stronger and more competitive.”
Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group also made the list with a score of 90.
The list also features a number of companies with operations in Indiana, such as Stellantis, BAE Systems, and GE Aerospace.
