When complete, the $7.5 million facility will have the capacity to serve 5,000 area veterans and employ 45 people.
The 24,000-square-foot clinic, to be located at 3098 North Lintel Drive, will consolidate mental health, primary care and specialty care services under one roof, the VA said. Currently, veterans receive care at two facilities in Bloomington.
The specialty care services will include physical therapy, optometry, audiology, prosthetics, dietician services, social work, phlebotomy, and telehealth.
Additionally, the services offered at the new facility will be provided by VA personnel instead of the contracted medical staff that currently serves the two Bloomington locations.
“We believe that having multiple health care services under one roof will enhance patient convenience, specialty collaboration and communication, and ultimately provide a more holistic approach to healthcare,” Clinic Director Dr. Kathir Palanisamy said in a news release.
A spokesperson for the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis said the facility will add 30 new jobs in addition to 15 existing employees.
The new clinic is slated to open in the summer of 2025.
