The not-for-profit museum cited the mascots’ “charisma, athleticism, and unwavering dedication to their team” that earned them their place in the hall of fame.
The inductees are:
- Jaxson de Ville of the Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL)
- Lou Seal of the San Francisco Giants (MLB)
- Monte of the University of Montana (NCAA)
- Orbit of the Houston Astros (MLB)
“Each of these mascots has made significant contributions to their teams and communities, exemplifying the joy and entertainment that mascots bring to sports,” Joby Giacalone, chairman of the executive committee of the Mascot Hall of Fame, said in a news release. “Their induction celebrates their legacy and the indelible impact they have had on fans.”
The new inductees will be honored during the Hall of Fame’s 2024 Ring Ceremonies in August.
The announcement of the inductees comes less than a month after it was announced that the physical Mascot Hall of Fame Museum building in Whiting could potentially close in favor of an office redevelopment project led by BP, which operates the nearby Whiting Refinery.
Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana previously reported that BP was the only company to respond to a request for proposals for the project.
