Indianapolis-based hhgregg (NYSE: HGG) has announced plans to hire more than 450 seasonal workers for holiday shopping. The company says it began accepting online applications and hopes to have the additional workers in place by mid-October. September 25, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Leading appliance, electronics and furniture retailer, hhgregg (NYSE: HGG) today announces its plans to hire more than 450 home electronics and home appliances sales associates this holiday season to support its 228 stores. Recently ranked highest in customer satisfaction for appliance retailers by J.D. Power and Associates 2014 Appliance Retailer Satisfaction survey, hhgregg is focused on offering superior in-store customer service to its customers, especially during the biggest shopping season of the year.

“The holiday shopping season creates the best opportunity of the year for us to connect with our customers and provide a shopping experience that's unmatched,” said Dennis May, hhgregg's CEO. “With our sales associates at the core of our business, hiring is one of the most important aspects of our holiday preparation, and we're thrilled to be able to add more than 450 additional qualified employees to the hhgregg family.”

hhgregg is accepting applications for holiday positions starting today, and plans to have all new hires on board and in stores by mid-October. The retailer is seeking to hire both full-time and part-time associates, and though the positions are immediately needed for the holiday shopping season, all new hires will be considered for ongoing employment.

“To ensure that we maintain our extraordinary customer experience throughout the holiday season and on Black Friday, we're looking for knowledgeable, friendly salespeople in both electronics and appliances for the holidays,” said Donna Desilets, vice president human resources, hhgregg. “Our holiday positions are not typical 90-day-only hires, in that if new associates are performing to hhgregg standards, the positions become ongoing.”
