An $8 million proposal to turn the former Roberts Stadium site into a large city park has been presented to the Evansville Board of Park Commissioners. Plans include 10 miles of trails to connect Roberts Park to other nearby greenspaces. Hafer Associates Managing Principal Jeff Justice, who is the architect of the plan being pushed by Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, said the proposal calls for:

-trails

-fitness stations

-constructed wetlands

-a great lawn and pavilion

-handicapped-accessible playground

-skate park

Plans also include recommendations for improvements to sports courts in the parks district and upgrades to the Wesselman Par 3 Golf Course.

Prior to developing the final proposal presented Wednesday to the board, Winnecke received input from the public during three sessions.
