Jay and Nancy Ricker made the donation as part of their focus to support organizations in Madison County.
The couple founded Middletown-based Ricker Oil Co. and have focused their efforts on philanthropy after selling the company to Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle Inc. in 2018.
”We are honored and humbled by Jay and Nancy’s generous investment in the life of AU,” President John Pistole said in a news release. “Their gift will help students lead informed and transformative lives impacting their worlds, just as Jay and Nancy have done in such significant ways.”
The gift comes nearly three years after the Rickers donated $1 million to the university in support of upgrades to Dunn Hall and other residence halls on campus.
