Subscribe NowThe Indianapolis-based Center for Leadership Development has unveiled the winners of its annual Minority Achievers Awards. The honors recognize African American professional and community leaders “who have excelled in life’s work and who have made meaningful contributions throughout our community.”
The awards were presented at the end of March during the center’s annual gala event. The honorees were selected in various awards categories, including education, business, and arts.
This year’s honorees are:
- Malina Simone Bacon, Co-Founder, GangGang Culture – Achievement in Arts & Entertainment
- Pamela Poore, Owner, Poore Organization – Achievement in Business & Industry
- Dr. Aleesia Johnson, Superintendent, Indianapolis Public Schools – Achievement in Education, K-12
- Dr. Lori White, President, DePauw University – Achievement in Education, Postsecondary
- Kiahna Davis, Central Regional Director, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority – Achievement in Entrepreneurship
- Jimmie McMillian, Senior Corporate Counsel, Indianapolis Motor Speedway – Achievement in Professions
- Kimberly McElroy-Jones, Director of Community Partnerships, Community Hospitals – Achievement in Public & Community Service
- Dr. Russell Ledet, Pediatrics/Psychology/Child Psychology Triple Board Resident, Indiana University School of Medicine – Achievement in Science, Technology & Engineering
- Devon Davis, Vice President, Bose Public Affairs Group – “Up & Coming” Achiever
- Barbara Boyd, Retired WRTV Journalist – Madame C. J. Walker Award
- Jeffrey Johnson, Sr., Pastor, Eastern Star Church – Accomplished Achievement Award
- Jeffrey A. Harrison, President & CEO, Citizens Energy Group – S. Henry Bundles, Jr Award
- Christopher Barney, CLD ‘84, CEO & Owner, Team Cruiser Conversion Co. – Distinguished Alumni Award
- Marissa Roundtree and Lurenzo Moffett, CLD Alumni – CLD Torchbearer Prize for Youth Excellence
The Center for Leadership Development also recognized the 96 student alumni in the CLD Scholars Class of 2024, who received a total of more than $6 million in scholarships provided by the center’s education and community partners.
