Carmel officials will release details Monday on plans for an area that connects the city's two main redevelopment districts. The city says Midtown is key to efforts to create a more pedestrian-friendly urban core. September 12, 2014

News Release

CARMEL, Ind. – Details will be released regarding a new development in the Midtown area.

The largely industrial Midtown area lies in the heart of Carmel, connecting the city's two primary focal points of redevelopment – the Arts & Design District and Carmel City Center.

The redevelopment of Midtown between these two anchors, is a key component of the city's efforts to create a walkable, pedestrian-friendly area centered along the Monon Greenway, providing the interest and activity that will encourage walking from one anchor to the other.

Bordered by Main Street to the north; City Center Drive to the south; Range Line Road to the east and areas around 3rd Ave SW, Midtown holds the potential to one day complete a continuous downtown core in Carmel with a mix of residential and commercial projects that could constitute a largely self-reliant urban environment.

WHEN: Monday, September 15, 2014 at 3 p.m.

WHO: Mayor Jim Brainard; Justin Moffett, Old Town Design Group; Eric Seidensticker, Carmel City Council; Corrie Meyer, Carmel Redevelopment Commission; and Mo Merhoff, Carmel Chamber.
