First Merchants names northwest region market president

Steinwart most recently served as regional chief sales officer for the region, which includes northwest Indiana, Chicagoland and South Bend-Mishawaka.
“Scott is a proven leader and exceptional Commercial Banker who has been serving commercial small to upper middle market clients for the past 30 years,” Dale Clapp, regional president for First Merchants, said in a news release.
Steinwart earned his bachelor’s degree from Valparaiso University and an MBA from Indiana University. He is heavily involved in the northwest Indiana community, currently serving on the board of directors for Campagna Academy and the Crisis Center, the bank said.
He also serves as a trustee for the John W. Anderson Foundation in Valparaiso, which supports various charitable organizations throughout Lake and Porter County.
