The $15 million facility, located near the city’s Ivy Tech Community College campus, is three times larger than the organization’s previous clinic.
HealthLinc broke ground on the clinic in November 2022. The 39,000-square-foot facility includes 33 medical exam rooms, two procedure rooms, and 12 dental rooms.
The health center, located at 200 Alfred St., will provide services, including medical, dental, optometry, podiatry and a full-service pharmacy, as well as addiction services, medical-legal assistance and health insurance enrollment assistance.
“The new HealthLinc Michigan City clinic is a shining example of our commitment to providing exceptional health care to our communities,” CEO Melissa Mitchell said in written remarks. “The new clinic allows us to expand our reach and increase accessibility and services. We take pride in delivering health care the way it should be delivered, centered around the patient and in a way that supports health equity.”
Additionally, HealthLinc said it will partner with Ivy Tech to create a learning lab for students, with the goal of addressing a shortage in the health care workforce.
The new Michigan City clinic will open to patients at 8 a.m. on Monday, and a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house is scheduled to take place on April 2.
HealthLinc operates more than a dozen clinics in East Chicago, Hamlet, Knox, La Porte, Michigan City, Mishawaka, South Bend and Valparaiso.
