The Bowen Health Clinics in DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble and Steuben counties will offer patients access to primary health care, mental health care, behavioral health care, addiction recovery treatment, and life skills coaching services, Bowen said.
Bowen Center began in 1961 as a mental health services provider but in 2020 opened its first primary care clinic in Warsaw.
The organization said in a Thursday news release that by April 11, all Bowen Center locations will offer primary health care in addition to their mental health services.
“We know people with a mental illness have a lifespan 20 years shorter than someone without a mental illness, so we had to do everything in our power to solve that as soon as we could,” Dr. Rob Ryan, Bowen Center president and CEO, said. “And as some health services are starting to leave communities, we are so pleased to be able to step up and fill the gap, especially for underserved populations.”
Bowen Center said it is investing more than $4 million into the opening of the four new clinics and expects to create at least 31 new jobs.
The four new clinics are each hosting a ribbon-cutting and tour at their locations:
- Angola in Steuben County: 11:30 a.m. March 7, 200 Hoosier Drive
- Albion in Noble County: 11:30 a.m. March 14, 101 E. Park Drive
- LaGrange in LaGrange County: 11 a.m. March 21, 836 N. Detroit St.
- Auburn in DeKalb County: 10 a.m. April 11, 923 Cardinal Court
The announcement follows the opening of a new Bowen Center clinic in Whitley County’s Columbia City in January and a new clinic in Marshall County’s Plymouth in 2023, Inside INdiana Business reported.
Bowen Center said it plans to add three additional locations in northern Indiana in the next 18 months, which would represent more than twice as many health clinics as Bowen had about two years prior.
Bowen Center provides services in 29 counties in central and northern Indiana through its health clinics, treatment centers and outpatient facilities and at homes, classrooms and other community-based locations.
