Our partners at WTWO-TV report the casino is on pace to hire about 600 total employees, up from the initial estimate of 500.
Vice President and General Manager Michael Rich says about 200 people have been hired thus far, and nearly all of the current job openings are available on the casino’s website.
Rich told WTWO the remaining jobs that haven’t been listed will be posted within the next two weeks.
“We encourage everyone to go out there that’s interested in applying for a job,” Rich said. “There are all kinds of jobs open from hospitality and food and beverage to hotels to more gaming positions, slots, and table games.”
Rich said demand for the jobs has been high, with hundreds of applicants every time new jobs are posted. He said many of applicants are local, which shows excitement is building as a new industry comes to the region.
Operator Churchill Downs Inc. announced last week that the gaming floor and some restaurants at the $290 million resort will open to the public on April 5. The 125-room hotel is slated to open the following month.
