They include one new appointment, two promotions and several leaders retaining their positions.
Our partners at WTWO-TV report Sakbun has selected Brian Cottee as director of the city’s street department. Ed Stewart has been promoted to director of the wastewater department, while Brent Niece is being promoted to director of the cemetery department.
The individuals remaining in their administrative positions are:
- Brad Speidel – IT Director
- Marcus Maurer – City Engineer
- Eddie Bird – Parks Superintendent
- Heather Pohlman – Sewage Billing
- Debbie Hensley – Transportation Director
“We have built a team that is open to change and progress while also balancing the complexities and status of current projects planned for Terre Haute,” Sakbun said. “Terre Haute residents can expect government leaders who are striving to optimize services and to deliver on a daily basis for citizens.”
Sakbun said his administrations would release a final list of appointments for various boards and commissions at a later date. He said over the next four years, his administration will “reshape” many local government offices, though specific details were not provided.
At age 27, Sakbun is the youngest person to lead the city of Terre Haute. In a December interview on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick, Sakbun discussed his goals and the city’s future.
“I’m a firm believer that Terre Haute is unique,” he said. “Its future is riverfront downtown development. It’s working through advanced manufacturing, diversifying the job market. We have all the tools to just launch on exponential growth here in Terre Haute, Indiana.”
Sakbun will be the first guest of 2024 on the Business & Beyond podcast with Gerry Dick, available on Jan. 8.
