“Let’s Teach, Indiana!” is being launched in partnership with 14 high schools in Marion County and is also being promoted through citywide advertising and educational digital content.
The university has teamed up with Indianapolis-based marketing agency Boldthink and is using funding from an Indiana Department of Education grant to support the effort.
“The grant will provide an extraordinary opportunity for the University of Indianapolis School of Education to attract talented high school students from the Indianapolis area for teacher preparation training,” John Kuykendall, Dean and Associate Professor of the School of Education, said in a news release.
UIndy said high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in education can take part in the university’s expanding dual-credit program to earn college credit while still in high school. They will also be invited to participate in UIndy’s Summer Teacher Prep Academy.
The university said the campaign is part of a larger effort to improve Indiana’s K-12 teacher pipeline, with a focus on targeting underrepresented teacher candidates who want to support their communities as educators.
