The company has invested $650,000 to relocate the dealership to a larger location at the intersection of I-69 and the Indiana Toll Road with plans to add up to 10 jobs over the next two years.
Palmer said the new location includes an expanded service shop with mobile diagnostics and repairs and a full warehouse of OEM and aftermarket parts.
A spokesperson for the company told Inside INdiana Business the new location allows for easier customer access in addition to more repair shop space and parts warehouse storage.
“Palmer Trucks is excited to increase repair shop throughput alongside our customer-facing mobile service diagnostic trucks,” Palmer Trucks Regional Director Fred Dufour said in a news release. “This new facility enables our family-owned-and-operated organization to place more trucks back on the road in record time.”
The Kenworth of Fremont dealership currently employs 21 people. The spokesperson said the new location will allow the company to grow its business and hire more local workers.
The expansion is the latest move in a big year for Palmer Trucks. In April, the company opened its first Indiana TRP parts store and commercial truck service shop in Fort Wayne.
In September, the family-owned company announced the transition to its third generation of leadership, with Scott Nichols becoming CEO and his brother, John Nichols, becoming co-president and chief human resources officer.
Palmer Trucks is the 38th largest privately owned company in Indiana with $490 million in revenue in 2022, according to IBJ research. The company has operations in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, with more than 700 employees, including about 475 in Indiana.
