Indiana United Ways says it will provide $80 million in matching grants to select not-for-profits to help accelerate and complete capital projects throughout the state.
The initiative, supported by Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment Inc., will run from 2024 to 2028. The capital projects that receiving funding will specifically focus on increasing the availability and quality of essential health and human services, the association said.
“This is an opportunity for communities around the state to leverage their local United Way partnerships and bring transformational funds into their cities, counties, and rural areas to drive system-level impact,” said United Ways Board Chair Karen Pipes.
Eligible not-for-profits can seek grants of up to $1.5 million, but the request must be no more than 50% of the cost of a project. The organizations must also apply in collaboration with their local United Way.
The applications will be reviewed by Indiana United Ways’ Statewide Capital Projects Initiative Committe, which is comprised of volunteers with expertise in architecture, construction, not-for-profit management, finance, and other areas.
Indiana United Ways plans to begin accepting applications in January. You can learn more about the initiative by clicking here.
Not-for-profit organizations in Boone, Hendricks, Hamilton, Hancock, Marion, Morgan and Putnam Counties are ineligible for the initiative because they are served through a similar effort from United Way of Central Indiana.
