The Indianapolis Catholic college received the funding as part of the endowment’s Compelling Preaching Initiative, which supports projects to grow the Christian faith.
The Preach All Ways project will seek to mitigate the number of young people leaving the church. It will conduct a national research project, create a preaching certificate and start a national young-adult preaching contest next summer at the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis.
“At Marian, we believe that the good news of Jesus Christ has the power to change the world. Still, as Saint John Paul II stated, we need new forms of evangelization to reach young people today, including preaching that is ‘new in its ardor, methods, and expression,’” Adam Setmeyer, vice president of mission and ministry, said in a news release. “The Preach All Ways initiative will do just that by empowering the ordained to renew their homiletic preaching and help the laity preach the Gospel through witnesses and testimonies.”
Marian was one of 81 organizations to receive funding during this round of grants.
