20/20 Custom Molded Plastics first detailed plans to set up shop at the then-vacant facility in 2017. The company at that time committed to investing $27 million in the plant and adding 155 jobs.
Just over a year later, the company said it would invest $41 million to add 240,000 square feet to the facility and add more than 200 new jobs.
A second expansion was announced in 2021 that would result in 125 new jobs.
But now, the company has already begun letting some of its staff go. The first 27 workers were let go on Oct. 21, according to the WARN Notice filed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The remaining 66 workers were set to be laid off on Saturday.
The company noted that COBRA benefits were being offered to the affected workers, though no other assistance was provided.
The affected employees are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights.
