The transportation, moving, and storage services company recently celebrated its 75th year in business, and leaders say the company is poised for a steady future.
Atlas was founded in 1948 as Atlas Van Lines and relocated its headquarters to Evansville in 1959. Since then, the company has grown to employ 780 people across its entire footprint, including 320 in Indiana.
“Atlas has seen its fair share of challenges, from the uncertainty in the 1970s and 1980s to today’s market insecurities,” CEO Jack Griffin said during the company’s anniversary celebration in September. “Our perseverance and outlook toward the future will keep us steady for the next 75 years and all the opportunities that come along the way.”
The company is the parent of several subsidiaries, including Atlas Van Lines, Atlas Logistics, TopHAT Logistical Solutions, and the recently-acquired Progressive Transportation Inc.
Atlas World Group is the 20th largest private company in Indiana with $1 billion in revenue reported in 2022, according to IBJ research.
The company was listed among Newsweek’s “Most Trustworthy Companies in America” earlier this year.
