Subscribe NowFast Company magazine has included Purdue University on its “Brands That Matter” list for the third straight year. The university is the only college to make the list celebrating organizations that work honoring their brand mission “with intention and authenticity.”
Purdue is one of six groups recognized for a third time and is one of the 165 overall brands on the list.
“I’m very proud of this recognition. If anything at all, Purdue is driven to produce outcomes that matter,” Brooke Beier, senior vice president of commercialization for Purdue Innovates, said in a news release. “This honor is a well-deserved nod to the passionate, entrepreneurial-minded faculty, staff, students, alumni and partners empowered by the Purdue ecosystem to bring world-changing technologies to market.”
The university’s application this year showcased Purdue Innovates, which is its recently-launched technology commercialization initiative. Last year, it focused on its land-grant mission encapsulating frozen tuition, Purdue Global and the Purdue Polytechnic High Schools. Its first honor was examining its education initiatives and goal to provide such during the pandemic.
The university was included in the education winners category with Sesame Workshop, Watermark Insights and Quizlet.
Fast Company cites Purdue’s more than 500 filed patents, nine startups and innovation grant awards, which have served “to support and enhance the value of the university’s intellectual property.”
The new accolade is one of many the West Lafayette college has stocked their trophy cabinet with this year. It has spent six years on U.S. News & World Report’s top 10 Most Innovative University and No. 4 on Morning Consult’s most trusted public university list.
