ActiveCampaign names inaugural CFO

Subscribe NowChicago-based marketing and customer experience automation firm ActiveCampaign, which has a presence in Indianapolis, has selected Joy Whinery as its first chief financial officer. Whinery most recently served as CFO for Florida-based benefits administration tech company PlanSource.
Whinery will report to the company’s founder and CEO, Jason VandeBoom, who said her hiring was a critical decision as the company is set up for its next stage of growth.
“[Joy’s] deep financial and operational experience at both private and public companies, paired with a true appreciation for the power of amazing customer experiences, is exactly what we need for our next stage of growth,” VandeBoom said in a news release.
Prior to joining PlanSource, Whinery also served as CFO at 84.51°, a retail data insights and media division of Kroger. She also spent 9 years in various senior leadership finance roles, including business unit CFO and vice president of corporate finance, at Worldpay in the Cincinnati area.
The company has developed an automation company designed to help businesses with email marketing, customer relationship management and e-commerce marketing, among other services.
ActiveCampaign originally established its Indianapolis operations in 2019. Two years later, the company said it would expand its Indy hub following the completion of a $240 million Series C round of funding.
The company currently employs more than 40 people in Indy, according to a spokesperson.
