Last week, toll road officials announced the expected reopening over the weekend of the 108th Street entrance ramp to I-90 east. The exit 10 westbound exit ramp is also expected to reopen Monday.
A new phase of work will begin after a pause for peak travel during the Labor Day holiday weekend.
On Sept. 6, eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane. And, on Sept. 8, westbound lanes will also be cut down to a single lane, crossing over to the eastbound structure for travel at mile marker 1.
“ITRCC is pleased to report that the project continues to remain on schedule as we make great progress on improving this critical piece of infrastructure for the region,” ITR Concession Company COO Rick Fedder said in a news release.
ITR Concession Company operates the Indiana Toll Road which is undergoing a series of bridge upgrades after 56 years of use. The first phase of improvements focused on construction on 18 bridges between the Westpoint Toll Plaza at the Illinois-Indiana state line to the Gary/Chicago International Airport.
