Subscribe NowHoliday World & Splashin’ Safari is building a new roller coaster, but park leaders are having fun being cryptic with the details as fans and internet sleuths dig for answers on the gravy-centric ride.
The new project’s name is “Gravy Boat,” according to a cheeky park blog post by spokesperson Leah Koch. However, that name likely is not the new ride’s name; the project that led to the Thunderbird roller coaster was named “Big Turkey.”
In the blog post, it was finally confirmed a new coaster is coming to the Spencer County theme park.
This week, the park gave a sneak peak of excavation:
An Evansville news Facebook page reported June 20 the park received a container from Vekoma Rides Manufacturing in June, and the product information showed signs of being a Family Boomerang Roller Coaster. It also said that the park submitted construction paperwork on the former Pilgrims Plunge location in the park’s Thanksgiving section.
Koch also told WKDQ in Evansville people’s guesses of what the park is building were impressive and on track.
However, Koch wrote there is more to the story than shipping containers and its labels. Her blog post mentioned and cracked a joke but did not confirm whether it’s a boomerang roller coaster.
She writes her favorite holiday is “Announcement Day” and looks forward to seeing fans slowly figure out what the surprise is. The post ends urging people to sign up for emails and texts to receive updates regarding the project.
