The university said Thursday the funding will be used to create Bible study-themed areas inside the 150-bed building.
The $50,000 Christ-Centered Living grant is part of nearly $3 million the foundation is awarding to 32 not-for-profits across the country. As part of the grant, OCU must complete a two-for-one match, meaning it will raise one dollar for every two awarded by Welborn.
“The opportunity to build in Biblically based study areas meets our Christian foundation and philosophy that we help train our students in all aspects of their Christian faith, whether in a small group setting or our Seminary classrooms,” OCU President Ron Dempsey said in a news release.
Construction on the $10.1 million residence hall began a year ago, and is slated for completion next month ahead of the 2023 fall semester.
