The development, called West Baden Lofts, will be a 44-unit housing project with two- and three- bedroom layouts. Units will be reserved for people making 30-60% of the area median income. The housing is located at 942 Main St. and close to downtown.
Construction will begin this month with completion expected in late 2024.
“We hope that West Baden Lofts helps to fill in the gap of affordable housing in the area and that it inspires more critical affordable communities to be built here in the future,” said TWG Development Director Marisa Conatser.
Amenities will include a free bikeshare program, free Wi-Fi in common areas and individual units, a meditation area, fitness center, community room, an indoor play area for children, community garden beds, a playground, in-unit laundry and walk-in closets.
The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, Innovative Veteran Affairs Real Estate, Merchants Capital, Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust and the Town of West Baden Springs assisted as partners to support the project.
The project is TWG’s first foray into West Baden Springs. The announcement comes less than a month after the developer detailed plans for a $12 million affordable housing community in Muncie.
