The contract calls for the production and delivery of engines for the V-22 Osprey aircraft.
Rolls-Royce will build eight AE1107C engines for the U.S. Navy through the contract extension. Work will be performed in Indianapolis and is slated to be complete by November 2024.
The V-22 is a tiltrotor military aircraft with the ability to lift vertically like a helicopter but it can also takeoff and cruise like a turboprop aircraft.
Rolls-Royce has received multiple contracts for its work on the V-22 over the past several years. Most notable, the company landed a $1.2 billion contract in 2019 for “sustainment support” of the aircraft.
The Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland is the contracting activity.
