The facility will produce solid surface countertops for the company’s recreational vehicle and industrial divisions, and Genesis is adding 70 jobs at the facility.
Officials broke ground on the 65,000-square-foot plant in March 2022. Kamden Betzer, product manager for Genesis Solid Surface, said the additional space allows the company to accommodate a significant increase in demand.
“As we continue to be the go-to supplier for RV interior products, the new facility not only allows us to expand upon our current partnerships but also gain market share immediately,” Betzer said in a news release. “We have an extremely talented team that is eager to ramp things up and more than double our output by the end of 2023.”
In addition to the RV market, Genesis said the plant will produce countertops for customers in the office, education, healthcare, and building material industries.
Genesis bills itself as the only single-source manufacturer that offers both solid surface and pressed countertops with a dedicated domestic inventory.
With the new facility, the company now has 14 plants in Elkhart County and Fort Wayne in Indiana, as well as Keysville, Virginia; Mocksville, South Carolina; Hope, Arkansas; and Sebring, Florida. Genesis employs approximately 700 people in Indiana, and a total of 1,200 across the U.S.
The new plant is a continuation of growth for Genesis Products. Over the last six months, the company has acquired Virginia-based cabinet drawer and components maker BHK of America and North Carolina-based wood components manufacturer Funder America Inc., though financial terms were not disclosed.
In March, Genesis Products was ranked No. 34 on woodworking publication FDMC’s list of North America’s largest wood manufacturing firms. A total of 19 Hoosier businesses made the list.
