A Fort Wayne startup has developed technology to help improve access to public transportation in Kenya. DiTara LLC Founder Rhoda Diwis says the online-mobile platform to help people in the African nation purchase tickets stems from her vow to do something for the good or her country. Diwis was born and raised in Kenya and ended up getting her college education in Indiana. She discussed her inspiration for the company during an interview on Inside INdiana Business Television. Diwis, who is a Trine University graduate and earned an MBA from Indiana University, says 86 percent of the Kenyan population has access to cell phones.

She has been developing the company through the northeast innovation center in Fort wayne.

DIWIS plans to launch the system in five high schools in Nairobi in May, where many students travel to boarding schools by bus.
