The funds raised through the campaigns will be matched as part of the agency’s CreatINg Places program if their goals are met.
The town of Bargersville is seeking $50,000 to finalize its new Kephart Park by adding a natural walking trail through the woods, bike racks, picnic tables and landscaping.
The IHCDA said the park will strengthen the town’s quality of life by promoting recreation and wellness and serving as a gathering space.
“The town is anxiously awaiting the opening of Kephart Park,” Bargersville Town Council President Susie Qualls said in a news release. “The addition of this park will offer some of the recreational amenities that our residents desire and deserve. We invite friends, neighbors and supporters of our parks department to join us in supporting the Bargersville Kephart Park campaign.”
The town has until May 22 to reach its $50,000 goal.
Meanwhile, Bloomington-based Sobremesa Farm is looking to raise $15,000 to create an educational mural that would highlight the importance of microorganisms living in healthy soil.
The mural would be located at Sobremesa Farm’s new compost facility.
“We strive to expose the community to the importance of a diverse eco-system supporting a balanced diversity of microbes in the soil and an inclusive food network that supports equity for a multicultural community,” said Robert Frew, community projects coordinator for Sobremesa Farm.
The farm aims to raise the funds by May 25.
The CreatINg Places program was established in 2016. Eligible projects from nonprofit entities and local units of government must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000.
The IHCDA will provide matching grants of up to $50,000 per project.
