Jeffersonville, Ind. – Velocity Indiana (www.velocityindiana.org) announces an increase in coworking space, to accommodate demand after increasing coworking membership 400% in less than one year. Led by Managing Director Tony Schy, Velocity Indiana has surpassed initial expectations, and is now poised to increase its impact on the region.
“I'm encouraged by the success that we've had so far, and am happy to be able to step on the gas.” Schy says.
The expanded space, which is just 90 seconds from downtown Louisville, increases Velocity Indiana's footprint to a total of 7,000 square feet, and comes with the addition of several amenities including: four, 6-person conference rooms equipped with 40 inch televisions and Apple TV; two additional conference spaces that can accommodate up to 25 people with high definition projectors and screens; three old fashioned phone booths for private, individual conversations; a treadmill desk; whiteboards galore; free parking; free gourmet coffee and assorted beverages.
Six, private offices have also been added to Velocity Indiana, during the expansion, and are currently 50% occupied by tenants Onovative and Local View.
Space and amenities aren't the only thing that Velocity Indiana is increasing, however, dedicated staff and programming are getting a boost as well. Velocity Indiana currently hosts both its flagship accelerator program and Startup Weekend NEXT twice per year, a monthly workshop series, as well as a World Affairs Council program and 5 Across pitch competitions every other month. With the expanded space and two new dedicated staff members, Velocity Indiana is able to increase the number of workshops and classes it offers to support the local entrepreneurial community.
“What's great about the additional space,” says Schy, “is that we can run a ton of programming through Velocity without displacing our coworking members. If you're a member, you will always have a quiet place to work, as well as easy access to all of the great events we have going on in the space.”
