News Release
Santa Claus, Ind. — Calling it “as American as apple pie,” Men's Journal magazine has named The Voyage wooden roller coaster at Holiday World one of America’s Best Roller Coasters.
The just-released list includes only two wooden roller coasters plus seven steel coasters. Holiday World is the only family-owned park included on the list. Men's Journal praised Voyage's extreme speed, numerous tunnels and abundance of “air-time.”
Since it premiered in 2006, The Voyage has been featured repeatedly on the Travel Channel and by other international news outlets. Voyage was named the nation’s top wooden coaster last fall by TIME magazine.
The Voyage is known as an “air-time machine,” with riders experiencing a feeling of weightlessness for a total of 24.3 seconds, which is more than any other wooden coaster. The Voyage is 1.2 miles long, placing it among the world’s top-two longest and top-three fastest wooden coasters. Voyage features three sections of extreme 90-degree banking and a first drop of 15 stories at a steep 66-degree angle of descent.
Holiday World opens for the season on May 3 with the debut of Mayflower, the park’s new swinging ship ride; both parks will be open daily beginning May 16. For more information, visit HolidayWorld.com or call 1-877-463-2645.
