The grant program provides money to cities, towns and counties to make improvements to roads and bridges.
In this round of funding, 229 local governments received matching funds. To qualify, larger communities must cover 50% of project costs, while smaller communities must pay for 25% with the state paying the balance.
“Community Crossings is a tremendous opportunity for towns, cities and counties to enhance local road networks across the state,” said INDOT Commissioner Mike Smith. “INDOT looks forward to partnering with locals to deliver on projects that will have a positive impact on safety and bring business to Indiana.”
Communities applied for the grants in summer. Applications were evaluated based on need, current road conditions, as well as impact to safety and economic impact.
The next call for projects will open in January 2023. Click here to access the list of recent recipients.
