The equity assistance center provides no-cost technical assistance related to race, sex, national origin and religion desegregation to public education systems.
“For 11 years, the Great Lakes Equity Center has worked with local, regional and national partners to prevent and respond to educational injustices, and to develop resources for systems that benefit all students,” said Kathleen King Thorius, MAP Center’s executive director and principal investigator. “The next five years of funding will bolster our services and resources to address the increasingly challenging contexts in which we engage in social and racial justice work. We are eager and prepared to meet current opportunities and challenges with our partners.”
There are four equity assistance centers across the U.S. The MAP Center, which is based at IUPUI, provides support across the Midwest and Great Plains, from Ohio to Oklahoma.
