The town says the program, called Resident Academy, will offer five sessions where participants will gain a better understanding of the town’s services and operations through a mix of lectures, discussion, and interactive on-site activities.
Through the program, the town says participants will tour facilities and meet town leaders to learn about day-to-day responsibilities, the budget process, and the town’s financial standing.
“The goal is to create a better-informed population who understands the inner workings of the Town,” said Town Manager Grant Kleinhenz. “We want to create a spark in attendees to get more involved in the growth and development of the community, but first they must understand the Town’s issues, challenges, and goals.”
Resident Academy is set to begin in January.
“Ultimately, we want to encourage more civic involvement,” said Kleinhenz. “Resident Academy will build a productive segway for more residents to make informed differences in their community by becoming more active in local events and serving on Town Boards and Commissions.”
