Waypoint Wabash to cut ribbon on new substance abuse recovery home

A Wabash-based nonprofit will cut the ribbon Monday on a newly-renovated house designed to support women recovering from substance use disorder. Waypoint Wabash received the historic home from Indiana Landmarks and says it will be able to house up to 12 women.
Around $400,000 was invested in the renovations at the home, located at 189 North Wabash Street in Wabash.
The organization says Indiana Landmarks started the renovations and the Community Foundation of Wabash County served as the fiscal sponsor for the project while Waypoint received its nonprofit status.
Waypoint Wabash says the goal is to provide a “safe, structured and stable environment” for women to continue their recovery and become better connected in the community.
“We are excited and so very thankful that Waypoint is now open, and actively helping ladies with substance bbuse disorder,” Jay Driskill, Waypoint Wabash Board President, said in written remarks. “We want to sincerely thank Indiana Landmark and the Community Foundation of Wabash County for their incredible support, and all our donors, volunteers and community partners who have helped us achieve this dream. I am confident many ladies will be positively impacted, and the trajectory of their life greatly improved, through their experience as a Waypoint resident.”
The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday.
