Union Health gift to help fill nursing pipeline

Terre Haute-based Union Health has given Indiana State University a $300,000 gift to help fund a Nursing Student Success Center to support students pursuing a nursing degree. The gift will be used to fund professional support staff and peer tutors for nursing and pre-nursing students.
The university says the goal is to create a larger pipeline of nursing employees for Union Health.
The health system is made up of Union Hospital, Union Medical Group, and Union Hospital Clinton.
“We are excited to support the nursing program at Indiana State University, through a collaborative partnership fund, that will enrich the lives of young nurses in our community and allow future employment opportunities at Union Health,” said Union Health Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer Rhonda Smith.
In recognition of the gift, ISU’s Board of Trustees approved the naming of the Union Health Nursing Skills Lab in the College of Health and Human Services.
