The program provides academic instruction and activities for Marion County students in grades one through nine from June 21 to July 22.
Now in its second year, Indy Summer Learning Labs was originally funded by a $500,000 investment from Indianapolis-based nonprofits United Way of Central Indiana and The Mind Trust in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is funded in large part by grants from the Indiana Department of Education.
This year’s program expects to reach up to 5,000 students and will be held at about 40 locations, including community centers, churches and schools. Sites will also be offered at Indianapolis Public Schools and the Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township.
The nonprofits say the labs are either free or low cost, depending on the site’s specific program. Enrollment ends June 6.
