Indiana and Kentucky are teaming up on a veterans job fair involving contractors for the Ohio River Bridges Project. The event is set for tomorrow in New Albany and will focus on unemployed veterans and underemployed members of the National Guard and Reserves. July 22, 2013

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS – State agencies are coming together to support unemployed veterans and underemployed National Guard and Reserves.

The Indiana Department of Transportation, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the contractor teams for the Ohio River Bridges Project are teaming up with the Indiana National Guard, WorkOne, Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve to sponsor a job fair for military veterans, National Guard or Reserve members and their families.

The job fair will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, at the National Guard Armory, 2909 Grant Line Road, New Albany, Ind.

As many as 50 vendors are expected to attend, including INDOT, KYTC and the developers of the Bridges Project – WVB East End Partners and Walsh Construction, along with a number of their contractors and sub-contractors – to provide information about job opportunities.

Although the job fair will focus on military personnel and veterans, the general public is also invited, said Elizabeth Ransom with event organizer Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense contractor that helps Guard and Reserve members with employment issues.

Employers wishing to participate can register online at: https://s.zoomerang.com/s/2013ORBPEmployerRegistration

ESGR was established in 1972 to develop and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service. ESGR advocates relevant initiatives, recognizes outstanding support, increases awareness of applicable laws, and resolves conflict between service members and employers. Paramount to ESGR's mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
