The center says the agreement with the MESA Standards Alliance will increase effectiveness and reduce costs of the green technology.
MESA, or Modular Energy Storage Architecture, is a set of specifications and standards for energy storage technology. The Battery Innovation Center says the strategic partnership will make it the first MESA compatibility and interoperability testing center in the world.
BIC President David Roberts says the agreement will strengthen the center's role as a resource to market players. He also believes the partnership will "catalyze the MESA standardization efforts."
MESA Alliance Board Chair Craig Collar says the organization's specifications are taking shape, and a testing center will allow industry members and utilities to "verify that things work as designed."
