He serves as chair of the department of molecular and integrative physiology at the University of Michigan Medical School and previously taught physics as an adjunct assistant professor at Indiana University. Schnell holds a bachelor’s degree from Universidad Simon Bolivar and a doctorate from the University of Oxford.
