The film was shot primarily in New Albany and Harrison County, with an Indiana native in the lead role. Director Tyler Sansom says the film company was recently able to secure a distribution deal for the film, which was financed through a crowdfunding effort.
“(We had a) significantly lower budget than even indie picture films,” said Sansom. “I think the average independent picture is usually around $70,000 to $100,000 on the very low end and we came in at $30,000, so we had to be very crafty on how to make a quality product that didn’t feel like a $30,000 movie.”
Sansom says the film company is an extension of the church’s video-based ministry.
“Our church…has been doing a lot of video-based ministry before the pandemic hit and everyone had to do it. We’ve been doing it for a while and this creative side of who we are kind of branched out an entire film division, essentially. This is our second large project that we’ve taken on, but our first full-length feature that we’ve gotten to make.”
The film is being distributed globally by Florida-based Green Apple Entertainment. The premiere for “A Father’s Fight” will take place Saturday in Corydon.
