CoolRevolution makes a line of cooling pajamas for women going through menopause-related night sweats and co-founder Laura Musall will represent the company on “2-Minute Drill,” which will air on Bloomberg TV and Amazon Prime Video. “Win or lose, it made us really think about our business and how to talk about it,” said Musall.
Musall talked about the importance of learning how to pitch quickly in an interview with Inside INdiana Business.
“One of the biggest things I think entrepreneurs or business people in general have a real challenge with is telling someone their story or about their company or organization two minutes or less and that’s what we were tasked to do,” said Musall. “It really helped us hone in on what our message was, what people really want to hear about why we came up with this product.”
Musall, along with co-founder Mindy Ford, started CoolRevolution in 2019 after they were unable to find the kinds of sleepwear they wanted to help them with the night sweats they were dealing with.
The pajamas are made with a natural, bamboo-based material the company says helps to wick away moisture.
Musall says in addition to potentially winning $50,000 in cash and prizes, she hopes the experience on “2-Minute Drill” will also bring more exposure to the startup.
“Just that exposure is so important and I think a lot of people don’t realize that this product even exists,” she said. “There are a lot of women that we’ve hard from who’ve said, ‘Oh my gosh, I had no idea there were pajamas out here to help with night sweats.’ Now, we can’t make the night sweats go away, but what we have found is that women are telling us they’re sleeping through the night now because they’re not getting woken up because they’re sweating.”
As the COVID-19 pandemic took hold in the U.S., Musall says the company saw a boost in sales.
“We found a lot of women who were saying to us, ‘Hey, if I’m going to be at home wearing my pajamas more often, I need pajamas that look good, that I can wear on a Zoom call, that feel good.’ We found that there are women who want to be comfortable. They’re having hot flashes and they want something that absorbs sweat. So we are happy to have been able to help them.”
Musall’s appearance on the show will air tonight at 8:30 on Bloomberg TV and streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The company says it will find out Monday if it wins.
Musall and Ford appeared on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick in August 2019 shortly after the company launched. You can watch the full interview in the video below.
